Calculating the LDR

For example, if a bank has $50 million in loans outstanding and $100 million in deposits, its LDR would be 50%.
Interpreting the LDR
The LDR offers valuable insights into a bank’s operational efficiency and risk profile, but interpretation requires careful consideration of economic conditions and banking industry trends.
- High LDR (Above 80-90%): A high LDR suggests that a bank is aggressively lending out its deposits. While this can lead to higher profitability, it also indicates lower liquidity.
